I run network architecture, firewalls, and server operations by day, and a personal Kubernetes cluster and a handful of public web services by night. That same toolkit is available to your business — whether you need a one-off project scoped and delivered, a second set of hands on something tricky, or steady IT support you can actually reach.

I take this on alongside my full-time role, so I keep the client list short and the work focused — that means senior attention on a realistic timeline, typically evenings, weekends, and scheduled project windows. If you need someone on-call during business hours every day, I'll happily point you toward a managed-services shop; if you want the right thing built well, that's me.

What I help with

Networks & firewalls Design, segmentation, and rule sets on pfSense, WatchGuard, Meraki, UniFi, and Cisco — VLANs, site-to-site VPN, BGP routing, and IDS/IPS.

Zero-trust / SSE Zscaler ZIA & ZPA deployment, SSL-inspection policy, and zero-trust access — including tuning that has delivered up to 10× performance for specific clients.

Virtualization & backups Proxmox VE and VMware vCenter clusters — HA with automatic failover, live migration with no downtime, and Proxmox Backup Server retention.

Windows infrastructure Active Directory domains, NPS/RADIUS for 802.1X and VPN auth, DHCP, and authoritative DNS — stood up and operated end-to-end.

Wireless UniFi and HPE Aruba wireless across multi-AP sites — SSIDs, enterprise auth, and RF / channel planning for clean coverage.

Web & hosting Custom web services and self-hosted apps — Node/Express on Kubernetes (K3s), containerized and deployed with TLS and monitoring.

Rates

$125–175/hr, depending on scope and how specialized the work is — straightforward IT support sits at the lower end, deep security / zero-trust / architecture work at the upper end.

For well-defined projects I'm happy to quote a fixed price instead, so there are no surprises. Either way you'll get the number before any work starts.

Where I work

Based in Paso Robles and serving the 805 — San Luis Obispo County and the Central Coast — on-site visits welcome across the region. I also take remote engagements beyond the area when the work suits it.
